Arab Strings Department Shines in End-of-Term Recital

The Arab Strings Department at Qatar Music Academy recently concluded its first-term activities with an internal recital on Saturday, 27 January 2024. The event was a special occasion, attended by the families of all participating students. A total of 15 students took part, showcasing their talents across different levels, from Level Prep 2 to Level 5.

Each student presented a solo piece, accompanied by piano, demonstrating their individual progress and musicality. Additionally, the students performed two group pieces, showcasing their ensemble skills. The repertoire for the solo pieces primarily focused on classical Western music, providing students with an opportunity to develop new technical skills and musical interpretations. The ensemble pieces, on the other hand, were centered around Arabic music, arranged in a way that catered to the students' varying levels of expertise.

The recital was a collaborative effort, with teachers Denys Bodnar, Alessio Mastrodonato, and QMA Director Mr. Zlatan Fazlić providing piano accompaniment for the students. The performance was further enriched by the contribution of Josef Alkotami, who played the Qanun, adding a unique and traditional element to the ensemble pieces.

Overall, the recital was not only a showcase of the students' musical talents but also a testament to their dedication and hard work throughout the term. It provided a valuable opportunity for students to gain performance experience, develop their musical skills, and share their love of music with their families and peers.
